It's been tough but I've finally finished Inktober! I've really enjoyed using a different medium over the last month and I want to keep up the regular ink drawings if I can. It's definitely given me some inspiration for new projects. Anyway, here are my final drawings!

Inktober: Days 17 - 24
This week has been fun. I tried to go with more of a spooky Halloween theme, but it really just came down to what I felt like drawing at the time, oh well!

Inktober: Days 9 - 16
Another week of Inktober! Tried some new techniques this week and I feel like I'm starting to get to grips with using ink. But mostly I've been drawing my favourite cartoon characters. It's been a good week.

Inktober: Days 1 - 8
I've been inspired to challenge myself with Inktober this year! I haven't used ink for a long time so it has taken some getting used to. I also started late, which wasn't smart of me. Had to do some catch up for the first few days. Hopefully I'll be able to complete the whole month!

Speedpaint - 11/08/2015
So since graduating from uni in July I haven't had much time for blogging. Mostly because I've spent the last month either in work, or lying face down on the floor praying for sleep and a career. Seems not much has actually changed since finishing uni.
But I finally got around to doing another speedpaint (30 mins) and absolutely loved it! This time I used a reference so I could just go straight into colour. Very fun and I hope I get to do some more soon!
Side note: yes, it's Frank Iero. I'll never get over My Chemical Romance.

'The Saga of Darren Shan' Character Model WIP
The character model for my Darren Shan inspired character, Evra Von, has finally been completed. I deviated from
my original proportions because I thought it would be more fun and
creative to simplify him and make him low-poly. He looks more suited for a mobile/app game, which I like. It took a long time to get the
style how I wanted and to match my Bakery Character but I'm pretty happy with how the model turned out. I'm really looking forward to texturing the scales!
Here are my progress screenshots!
Started
with a basic shape for the head then deleted textures which will be covered by hair. The textures will show detail so I could use simple shapes.

Bakery Character Model WIP
Finally! A project update!
The character model for my Bakery Character, April, has finally been completed. I ended up deviating from my original proportions because I thought it would be more fun and creative to make her low-poly and simple. It took a long time to get the style how I wanted but I'm pretty happy with how the model turned out. Mostly I'm looking forward to texturing her with bright, cute colours!
Here are my progress screenshots!
Started with a basic shape for the head. Focused on keeping the shape simple as the texturing will show most of the detail. Really enjoyed making her braid!

My Favourite Author Promoted My Uni Work
In January I uploaded a post about part of my major uni project, an environment and character based on the book series 'The Saga of Darren Shan'.
I tweeted about this post as I usually do and I was shocked to see the books' author, Darren Shan, had retweeted me. This gave me a boost in hits to the blog and also made me incredibly happy.
I remember screaming something along the lines of "MY FAVOURITE AUTHOR READ MY BLOG OH WOW" It looked something like this:
So I thought that was the end of it. But flash forward to the end of February when I was told about Darren Shan writing a small post about my project on his Facebook page. I still haven't stopped freaking out over this. Don't think I'll ever stop.

'Melody Dash' - A Game I Might Make Someday
I don't want to rule out the possibility of ever making this game, it was a lot of fun to design. However the chances of me actually doing it are unlikely because I'm fairly certain the university owns this work. And my soul.
So for my Concept Art and Marketing project in uni I decided to design two characters and create some fake screenshots for a game I named 'Melody Dash'.
The game was designed for 6-10 year old children using a musical theme. The main idea of the game was that players controlled a character based off a musical instrument, who would run and collect items down a race track which would make the background music play. If an item was missed then the music would stop and the goal is to play the entire song.
Bakery Pre-Production Work
As part of my major project in uni I decided to design, model and texture a bakery environment and a character to go in it.
Unlike my previous works I wanted this to be set in the modern day and be generally fun. I loved the idea of modelling and texturing a character who is working hard on something they care about, along with a variety of cakes and other baked goods, all with lots of bright colours and a fun atmosphere. This was also an excuse to draw lots of gingerbread men and doughnuts.

'The Saga of Darren Shan' Pre-Production Work
As part of my major project in uni I decided to design, model and texture a circus environment and a character to go in it, inspired by the horror novel series 'The Saga of Darren Shan'. The character I will be creating will be a teenage snake-boy called 'Evra Von', who performed at the circus known as the ‘Cirque Du Freak’ featured throughout the books.
I chose this because it is a novel I am very familiar with; I read it many times growing up from age eight and it never ceases to amaze me. Each time I have read the books I have become re-immersed into this fascinating world of strange creatures no matter my age. The circus camp area is used as a home-base for the main characters particularly in the first few books and I wanted to interpret this small part of the magical world shown throughout the books in my own work.
